Workshop, Off-the-Shelf to Off-the-Cuff: Designing and Using Games for Humanistic Pedagogy

Gameplay creates a more creative, embodied experience that transports participants into unfamiliar places and times. Used well in the classroom, games can lead to more deeply engaged students and more successful learning outcomes. Focusing on historically inspired games, this workshop will help you adapt gameplay for your classroom goals.

Evan Torner is Associate Professor of German and Film & Media Studies at the University of Cincinnati, where he also serves as Director of the UC Game Lab. He co-runs several different organs in the gaming space, including the journals Analog Game Studies and the International Journal of Role-Play, as well as the Golden Cobra Challenge and Games on Demand.
