CELT Reading Circle – “Distracted: Why Students Can’t Focus & What You Can Do About It”

February 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)
Free

This event meets Fridays, starting February 9th through March 1st.  (4 weeks)

Read the thought-provoking book “Distracted: Why Students Can’t Focus and What You Can Do About It” by acclaimed educator James M. Lang who challenges the conventional belief that technology is responsible for students’ lack of attention in the classroom. Instead, he uncovers a deeper issue: the mismatch between how we teach and how students learn.

Join us for an enriching experience as we navigate the pages of “Distracted” and reimagine the practice of teaching and learning.

The Reading Circle discussions will be co-lead by Dr. Shannon Harper, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice and core faculty in the U.S. Latino/a Studies Program, and Misty Zimmerman, M.Ed., Instructional Technology Specialist for the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

The book is available online from Parks Library

** Registration for this event will close at Noon on February 2nd.
