Getting Started with Top Hat

All Iowa State instructors can use the Top Hat platform for free. If you decide to use Top Hat, inform the Iowa State University Book Store, per Section 8.3.6.7 of the Faculty Handbook, so the Top Hat license can be added to your required course materials list.

Instructors can create an account at any time. View the Audience Engagement for Faculty page for information on licensing and account creation.

Informing your students about Top Hat

Instructors wishing to use Top Hat in their course must inform the Iowa State University Book Store, per Section 8.3.6.7 of the Faculty Handbook, so the Top Hat license can be added to your required course materials list.

Section 8.3.6.7 of the Faculty Handbook states that the bookstores ought to be provided with a list of any and all required and/or recommended course materials per the federal Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. This will allow you to be transparent as to what your students should expect prior to enrolling in your course.

Read the most recent version of Section 8.3.6.7 on Iowa State Faculty Handbook website.
