Introduction

StudyMate makes it easy for teachers and students to create flashcards, self-assessments, and learning games. StudyMate works seamlessly within Canvas so there are no external websites to go to, no registration steps, and no URLs to track.

Getting Started

StudyMate can be accessed from inside your Canvas course.

Instructor Resources

Enabling StudyMate in your Canvas course

To enable StudyMate in any course:

Login into Canvas and open the course.
Follow the steps in the ‘How do I manage Course Navigation links?‘ guide to enable the link for StudyMate.
Click Save.

Creating StudyMate projects

Click on StudyMate in your Canvas course navigation.
Click Continue to StudyMate.
Select Create New Project.
Name your project, add a description, and select Save.
To add new items to your project by selecting the Edit button next to the project.
Add facts, definitions, or questions in their given templates.

Making StudyMate projects available to students

Click on StudyMate in your Canvas course navigation.
Locate the project you want to share.
Select the drop-down menu at the right of your StudyMate Project or Folder.
Select Make Available in Course.
A green star will appear to the right of all Projects you have shared with your course.

Student Resources

Using StudyMate materials

To access StudyMate materials in Canvas:

Click on StudyMate in your Canvas course navigation.
Click the name of the project you want to view.
The activity will open in a new window, choose how you want to interact with the content.

To access StudyMate materials through a link emailed to you by your instructor, simply click the link and choose how you want to interact with the content.

To access StudyMate materials through the mobile app:

Download the StudyMate mobile app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Enter the Setup Code.
1. Setup Codes can be found by going to the StudyMate tab on your Canvas course and selecting your name in the upper-right-hand corner of the StudyMate page.
2. Select Add or remove mobile device.
3. Under Activate a New Device, select the Generate Code button to see the new code.
Select an available project to see a list of games and activities.
Select a game or activity to begin.x
