ISU Online Learning Community (ISU-OLC) – May

The purpose of the ISU-OLC is to share campus best practices to improve online teaching and learning; see how others are using the University Learning Management System (LMS) to create innovative learning experiences, inform the campus about existing and new web-based instructional technologies, participate in new technology testing and evaluation; as well as, to leverage LMS expertise, experience and training resources across campus. Audience: faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants. Registration is required at least one day prior to this learning community.

Canvas Peer-to-Peer User Groups (May)

The Canvas Peer-to-Peer (P2P) group consists of advanced Canvas users who support multiple faculty and courses, including instructional designers and course coordinators. The group meets monthly to discuss advanced Canvas uses, investigate related tools and technology, and collaborate on a list of shared resources. Email celt-help@iastate.edu to join.

These meetings are co-led by Gretchen Anderson (Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching) and Karla Embleton (CHS Online Distance Learning).

Online Workshop Series: Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

** This Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) workshop meets both mornings of Thursday, June 9th and Friday, June 10th from 9 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize the foundational concepts of Quality Matters.
Identify the critical elements of the QM quality assurance program, including the QM Rubric, materials, processes, and administrative components.
Apply the QM Rubric to review online courses.
Make decisions on whether the demo course meets selected QM Rubric Standards.
Apply the concept of alignment.
Draft helpful recommendations for course improvement by citing annotations from the QM Rubric and evidence from the course.

Requirement

This virtual offering will be delivered via Zoom and is split into three hours of training delivered over two days. Upon completion of the entire workshop, participants may pursue certification for attaining the QM roles of Peer Reviewer and Master Reviewer.

Launch of the Summer Strolls for Well-being at ISU

If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or simply need a break – mindful walking supports your well-being and work-life harmony. The Strolls for Well-being at ISU is a flexible walking program on campus, or you can simply pause where you are.

Come and explore how the Strolls can fit in your schedule, whether you have 30 minutes or 5 minutes. Participants will leave this session with an overview of the Strolls and experience how this program can support their overall holistic health.
