The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) invites tenured and term faculty to apply for a half-time position as an Inclusive Classroom Faculty Fellow, beginning no later than January 2021. This Faculty Fellow will provide leadership for the Annual Inclusive Classroom Training with opportunities to broaden their understanding of, and experience in, university wide leadership. The Annual Inclusive Classroom Training provides research-based strategies and approaches applicable to the broad range of academic disciplines and departments at Iowa State University. The Training also provides opportunities for instructors to learn and share ways of fostering welcoming and supportive environments for all ISU students.
The Faculty Fellow will work with the Director of CELT to: (1) develop and facilitate the Inclusive Classroom Annual Training; (2) lead the CELT Academic Equity and Inclusive Classroom Board; and (3) develop and create resources for faculty facilitators and departments to use and enhance inclusive teaching. The Faculty Fellow and the CELT director will jointly determine the final portfolio of responsibilities. Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence in the classroom, a commitment to creating inclusive classroom environments, and experience mentoring fellow faculty.
This Faculty Fellow will have a half time, three-year appointment in CELT, with the possibility of renewal, and serve as part of CELT’s leadership team. They will be provided with 50% release time during their time as fellow, beginning no later than January 2021. For B-base faculty, the Faculty Fellow may also receive partial support for work carried out in the summer. CELT will provide the Faculty Fellow with resources needed to carry out their administrative duties, as well as opportunities for professional development. The Faculty Fellow will retain office space in their home department.
Eligibility: Any tenured or term faculty member at the rank of associate or full professor is eligible. All applicants should have been employed at Iowa State University for at least five years.
