Joel has, from the day I met him, constantly been supportive to me as a leader. When I met him my freshman year as a committee member in Engineering Student Council, he helped me in every way he could. He saw potential in me as a leader and even helped me to obtain my first big leadership role which was helping to plan a conference for engineering students. When it came to the end of my sophomore year, I was running for a vice president position in Engineering Student Council and was unable to attend elections. I heard later that Joel was backing me up and letting students know I would be good in the position despite not being able to be there to speak for myself. I appreciate all of the support he has given me, and I feel like I have grown a lot as a leader because of him. Joel will by far be the person I will remember the most when I graduate, and he deserves to be recognized for the amazing work he does for students going above and beyond his role in the College of Engineering.
