Configuring IE to Recognize WebCT as a “Trusted Site”

Download this information as a print-friendly QuickStart sheet (488 KB PDF file ).

By default, Internet Explorer 6 and 7 blocks downloads of files from Web sites—and uses a tool called the Information Bar to alert users when files are blocked. This feature may prevent you from being able to download files from WebCT.

To avoid this situation, you may configure IE to recognize WebCT as a “Trusted site”.*

1. In the Internet Explorer Tools menu, select Internet Options.

6. Click the Add button.

7. Click OK on both the Trusted sites and Internet Options panels.

*NOTE: Changing this setting will allow you to download files from WebCT without being blocked by the Information Bar. If you prefer to allow downloads from all Web sites, you must change your Security Settings to enable Automatic prompting for file downloads.
