Iowa State University has a university-wide license for Respondus. Respondus is a Windows OS application that enhances the functionality and usability of WebCT's quiz, survey, and self-test tools. For a product description and complete list of features, visit the Respondus, Inc. Web site .

If you have already installed Respondus 3.0 or 3.5.x, a full installation of Respondus 3.5.4 is not necessary. An update is much quicker and easier:

The file you download is named "Respondus3Campus.exe".

Locate the file on your hard drive and double-click it to start the Respondus installation program.

During the installation process you will be asked to enter the name of the institution, the local support contact, and the installation password.

The information must be entered EXACTLY as follows:

Institution Name: Iowa State University
Local Support Contact(s): CELT 294-5357
Installation Password: Z821401349-224612861

We recommend that you accept the default settings for where the program is installed.

It's important to note that you are not able to download the software directly from the Respondus website, nor are you able to use the password listed above to activate a copy previously downloaded from their site.

NOTE: When publishing to WebCT GOLD, select WebCT 6.x/Vista 4.x as the Course Management System.

Our license DOES permit you to install a copy of the Respondus software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the Respondus software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus and is also illegal. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and that you find the Respondus software useful.

Context-sensitive help is available throughout the Respondus program by pressing the F1 key. It is also available by selecting "Help" from the pull-down menu on the toolbar. You may also download a copy of the Respondus User Guide (in Word/WordPad format).

Respondus, Inc. has an online knowledgebase and ticket-based support system.

The Respondus Test Bank Network contains ready-to-use test banks for the leading textbooks in higher education. The test banks are in Respondus format and can be downloaded using Respondus or StudyMate for FREE by instructors who adopt a participating textbook.
