Beginning a New Semester & Wrapping up a Previous Semester
BEFORE EVERY SEMESTER that you plan to use WebCT
- Your new WebCT courses can be are created as empty shells OR you may have the content and design of previous course copied into the new semester's courses.

If you have taught the same course in a previous semester . . .
The course request form allows you to automatically copy the course content and design into the new course.
AFTER EVERY SEMESTER that you used WebCT
For any previous semester’s course, close it to student access by taking the following steps:
- Export a copy of the Gradebook for your records
- Create a backup of the previous semester's course
Within your course, go to: Instructor Tools [or Designer Tools] > Manage Course > Backup
- Download the backup to a local drive - in case you ever need to access the student data or content from that previous semester. (To reactivate the backup, contact : webctgold@iastate.edu)
- Unenroll students from the course.
