ISU Administrative Tools for WebCT

WebCT Course Instructors can use this toolset to add students to a WebCT course, submit Midterm and Final Grades, and bring bubblesheet exam scores into the Grade Book.

NOTE: Tools that communicate directly with the Registrar's official course enrollment database (e.g., Enroll Section, Submit Grades) may only be used by an individual who is listed as an "Instructor of Record" according to the Registrar.

Adding ISU Administrative Tools to your course

Enroll Section (map your WebCT course enrollment to the Registrar database)

Submit Grades (submit Midterm and Final Grades to the Registrar from WebCT)

Add Exception IDs (to add course participants who do not have ISU NetIDs)

Add Students (manually add students to your WebCT course by entering their ISU NetIDs)

Submit TES form (so that Test and Evaluation Services can transfer scores from bubblesheet exams directly into your WebCT course Grade Book)

Reconcile Enrollment (to ensure your WebCT course enrollment matches the Registrar's course enrollment database)

Adding ISU Administrative Tools to your WebCT course

1. Section Designers must start in the Build tab to add the Administrative Tools.

  1. Log in to WebCT, go into your course/section, and click the "Build" tab.
  2. Click the "Add Content Link" button.
  3. Scroll down the list of options, and click on "ISU Administrative Tools >>".
  4. If there are no Admin Tools listed in the inventory, click "Create ISU Administrative Tools". (If there is already one in the inventory, go ahead and select it.)



2. On the Create ISU Administrative Tools screen:

  1. just give the tool a title.The other settings are locked.
  2. Click Save and the tool will be added to your Course Content Home Page.

3. Make sure the tool is hidden from your students:

  1. Click the drop-down action menu.
  2. Select Hide Item. [The tool icon will then say (Hidden) next to it to indicate that students cannot see it.]

 

4. Section Instructors can work with the Administrative Tools in the Teach tab.

  1. Click on the Teach tab.
  2. Click on the Administrative Tools link or the icon.
