Online registration for the Iowa State University Teaching Seminar and New Faculty Orientation is now closed. 8:00 a.m.  Welcome

8:30 a.m.  What Does a Faculty Member Do?

9:30 a.m.  Working at a Research Institution

10:30 a.m.  Break

10:45 a.m.  Bringing New Faculty Expertise to ISU: Disciplinary & Interdisciplinary Work. Small group discussions with Elizabeth Hoffman, Executive Vice President and Provost , and members of the Provost’s Academic Cabinet

12: 00 p.m.  Luncheon

12:45 p.m.  Luncheon Address, President Gregory L. Geoffroy

1:30 p.m.  New faculty will choose to attend any three 20-minute roundtables with topics such as:

  • Collaborating Across Disciplines
  • Connecting With Centers and Institutes
  • Extension: Land Grant Institution
  • Networking With Your Funding Agency
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
  • Starting Up and Maintaining a Lab
