NSSE 2007 Information Release

2007 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

As you may know, Iowa State University uses the five benchmarks from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) as performance indicators for our 2005-2010 Strategic Plan. We would like to ask for your help in encouraging students to respond to the NSSE survey if they receive an invitation from NSSE in February 2007.   A random sample of 2,500 ISU freshmen and 2,500 seniors will be randomly selected and invited to participate.

On Thursday Feb. 1, the selected students will receive a message from Indiana University, endorsed by President Geoffroy, inviting them to participate and providing instructions for accessing the NSSE survey online. The survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete via a web version. A personalized student identification code will be provided, allowing each student to complete the survey just once. This is an opportunity for students to help shape the future of ISU. Please encourage students who have received the invitation to complete the survey if they happen to ask questions about it.  We appreciate any publicity or announcements that would promote participation in the NSSE.

The NSSE project is co-sponsored by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Pew Forum on Undergraduate Learning. It's administered by the Center for Survey Research at Indiana University and supported in part by a grant from Lumina Foundation for Education.
