Teaching Resources

Skilled and dedicated educators, who are committed to providing their students the best possible learning opportunities, are a cornerstone of Iowa State University. CELT offers a variety of online and face-to-face resources for faculty, staff and graduate students who wish to practice effective teaching strategies and enhance student learning.

The teaching resource section is divided into five areas:

Effective Educational Practice provides background information on broad topics that impact student learning.

Course Planning provides details on specific teaching approaches, how to develop an effective syllabus and how to teach to diverse learning styles and abilities.

Classroom Practice provides ideas on how to start the first week of a semester, effective practices for teaching large classes, and descriptions of different teaching techniques.

Documenting Your Teaching provides descriptions of formative and summative assessment methods, as well as best practices for peer review of teaching.

Online Learning Hub

Additional resources are available for check out in the CELT Library, located in 3024 Morrill Hall. The library includes an array of materials relating to all aspects of teaching and learning and professional  development of college teachers and academic administrators.
