CELT Learning Technology Workshops for Summer 2005

CELT workshops are targeted specifically to faculty, instructional support staff, and teaching assistants.

Orientation to WebCT for Online Learning and Teaching

In this introductory WebCT workshop, learn:

  • How WebCT can enhance your instruction through the use of tools for communication, collaboration, evaluation, course management, and more;
  • About WebCT integration with the ISU Registrar database for automatic enrollment into and electronic grade submission from your course.

WebCT Communication Tools

Learn how to increase communication between you and your students by:

  • Creating and managing Discussion topics, using the WebCT email system, using the Chat tool for online office hours, topic communication, and group collaboration;
  • Using the Calendar tool to inform students of course events, topics, lectures, assignments, due dates, etc.

WebCT Course Content Delivery

Learn how to upload, organize, and manage WebCT course content, including:

  • Lecture notes, study guides, and supplemental material as single pages, documents, or modules;
  • Interactivity with the Action Menu tools.

Managing the WebCT Gradebook

Learn how to manage student data by using the WebCT gradebook to:

  • Enter grades directly or use an Excel spreadsheet, edit individual student records, release grades securely to your students, perform calculations, and review and release statistics;
  • Structure your gradebook for successful electronic submission of Midterm and Final Grades to the Registrar.

Creating and Delivering Quizzes/Surveys with WebCT and Respondus

Learn how to create quizzes/surveys within WebCT and offline using ISU site-licensed application, Respondus to:

  • Set up a question database, select questions for your quiz/survey, and manage student access to your quiz/survey;
  • Grade quiz submissions, release quiz scores to students, and display quiz/survey results.

Creating Interactive Study Activities with StudyMate

Learn how to use the ISU site-licensed application, StudyMate to:

  • Easily create ten different kinds of interactive learning activities;
  • Convert sets of definitions, facts, and/or multiple-choice questions into interactive study and review modules and publish them in Flash format directly into your WebCT course.
