Learning Communities
Learning Communities were started at Iowa State in 1995 by faculty and staff who wanted to improve undergraduate teaching and the learning experience for their students. In that year, we offered 12 learning communities and 19% of our entering first-year students participated. But, it wasn't long until the learning community concept spread across campus and the number of opportunities soared. Today, we have more than 70 learning communities and over half of our entering first-year students participate.
