Request Creation of a Course in Blackboard Learn

You must submit a Course Creation Request for each semester that you plan to use Blackboard (Bb) Learn for teaching.

Three Options for Online Course Requests

Option 1. Create a New (empty) Blackboard Learn Course

Important Note for Instructors: If you are using course cartridges or digital content solutions from publishers (e.g. McGraw-Hill, Wiley, Cengage, Pearson, etc.) please select Option #1: Create a Blank Course.

  • Use this option to build a course from scratch.
  • If you previously taught this course in WebCT . . .
    • This is an opportunity to rethink the design of your course to engage students and enhance learning. If you would like some help getting started, be sure to checkmark the option to schedule a meeting with a CELT Instructional Designer.
    • You can easily download content files from WebCT and upload only the files you need.
    • Tests and Surveys can be ported from WebCT to Bb Learn by using Respondus.

Option 2. Create a Copy of an Existing Blackboard Learn Course

Each semester that an existing Bb Learn course is taught, course instructors or builders must submit a Bb Course Request.

Option 3. Copy an Old WebCT Course to Blackboard Learn

Option 3. Create a Copy of (renew) an Existing WebCT Course

WebCT instructors and designers are encouraged to move their courses to Bb Learn as soon as they are able. WebCT will be unavailable after Spring semester 2012; before that point, you must move any WebCT course(s) you want to use anytime after Spring 2012 from WebCT to Bb Learn (use Option 3).

Option 3. Request a Space for a [non-course] Special Project or Organization

All new [non-course] Special Projects must use Bb Community, which is designed specifically for non-course use.
