ISU Second Life learning group gets together in the virtual world
Check the CELT events calendar for session details and to register for upcoming sessions.
CELT Learning Technologies staff are collaborating with others at ISU to build a community of Second Life (SL) users to explore current uses of—as well as opportunities and challenges related to using SL for teaching, learning, and research.
Monthly “Experience Second Life” events will take place throughout Fall semester, 2009—originating from CELT’s space in Second Life (link to teleport in Second Life). Fall 2009 sessions are scheduled for Oct. 2, Nov. 6, and Dec. 4.
To join the community, or to learn more, e-mail sl@iastate.edu. If you are already a SL user, please provide your SL avatar name so that you may be added to the ISUSLers group within SL—as well as our SL Ning (Web 2.0) community. Discussions are available in the ISUSLers Ning community as well as listings of Real Life (RL) member names associated with ISUSLers’ avatars.
CELT’s workshop resources, “Teaching & Learning in a MUVE (Second Life)“, includes help for getting started in SL as well as links to several sites that focus on teaching and learning in SL.
