Kajal Madeka is the Program Coordinator for ThinkSpace, an online teaching and learning platform designed to engage students in active learning and problem solving. In her role as program coordinator, Kajal assists faculty in the adoption, integration and utilization of ThinkSpace by providing active onboarding support with the technology as well as consulting on Instructional Design to help faculty make the most of the pedagogy embedded in ThinkSpace tools. She also supports the ThinkSpace Faculty Learning Community and coordinates their meetings. Her other duties include being a liaison between faculty and ThinkSpace development team, production of training materials and user guides to simplify the adoption of ThinkSpace, promotion and dissemination of ThinkSpace within Iowa State and beyond, organizing workshops and seminars, data gathering, grant support and reporting.
Past work experience
Kajal Madeka comes to CELT with a rich background in academic research with a Ph.D. in Archaeology from The M.S. University of Baroda, India and M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Iowa State University. She has worked as an Instructional Design consultant to redesign online courses for Physical Therapy program at Des Moines University and the Center for Food Security and Public Health at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Iowa State University. She also has experience in teacher education, usability, gaming research and creating learning experiences in 3D virtual worlds. Her latest professional development has been in Team Based Learning. Her wide exposure to different fields and knowledge of a variety of pedagogical approaches makes it easy for her to connect with faculty from various disciplines and provide relevant on-boarding and Instructional Design support.
